Rearcross has to field with only 10 players available on the this occassion, so the odds stacked against the home team from the start. Killavilla dominated proceeding for the 1st 10 minutes as Rearcross struggled to get any foothold on the game. Thankfully our defence held up and restricted Killavilla to only half chances. Rearcross started to get more involved in the game after this period of play and were unlucky after 12 minutes with a shot from Stephen Rochford that went just outside the left goalpost. Another near miss from Cillian Kennedy 2 minutes later. After 20 minutes Cathal Kennedy put off a great save from a pile driver delivered just outside the large box. The Roscrea side took hold of the game again in the opening ten minutes of the 2nd half but a great display from Colm Lenihan in defence kept the home team at bay. 12 minutes in Patrick Dawson shot from close range but was denied by the Killavilla goalkeeper. A minute later Killavilla broke from a Rearcross set play and played a through ball to Killavilla's No. 10 who appeared to be in off side position, however he shot low and from close range giving Cathal kennedy no chance in goal. Rearcross dropped their heads at this point as it was very difficult playing with only 10 players against a full strength Killavilla side. After 20 minutes Killavilla scored again from a corner when Killavilla's center half rose highest to head the ball into the Rearcross net. The hosts pulled a goal back through Patrick Dawson, however the Roscrea side restored their advantage courtesy of an own goal to leave it 3-1 at the full time whiste.
